by the University's technical advisers, the Faculties
and the Senate. But the University Authorities would, I
know well, be fortified by an expression of your
sympathetic concurrence with their views and aims.

That the attainment of those aims is dependent
upon the provision of funds from outside this Colony is
obvious, for the Colony, while anxious to do all in its
power to help its University of which it is very proud, clearly could not find all that is necessary to bring it
up to the right standard and to maintain it there. Nor,
I venture to think, is the Colony bound in duty so to do,
for, as I suggested in my speech to the Council, quoted
in Chapter I of the report, there is also an Imperial
responsibility in this matter. This, however, is a point
more suitable for a later despatch when the report which
I now submit for the favour of your attention has been
studied.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient, humble servant,
(. Arr. horthern
Governor.
